Sleep Sound in Santa Rosa

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Herbal Sleep in Santa Rosa Hi, I am good night sleep blogger Mark Stanford. As you have probably guessed, there are some nights when I simply cannot sleep sound. I brush my teeth, climb onto my swedish mattress, relax under my Dark blue down comforter and then–lie there with my eyes wide open! Ugh!

Before I take an herbal sleep remedy such as California or Reposanex, I try some of my favorite nighttime rituals to hopefully aid sleep.

First, I rid my Santa Rosa bedroom of all the distractions. I can’t believe how much paperwork piles up in a few days. I don’t want to lie awake thinking about the car insurance premium that is due on my car or the ten page application for my daughter to attend “University of California. I even close my laptop and take it out of the bedroom.

Next, I bargain with my sweetie for a massage exchange. I promise to give an incredible rubdown tomorrow night if I can get one tonight. Lavender or chamomile oil is the crowning touch.

Next, I meditate to the sound of the surf lapping at the shore. No, I don’t live on the beach, but I do live in a nice Santa Rosa neighborhood near downtown. To hear waves, chirping birds or a gentle breeze rustling the trees, I turn on relaxing ambient sleep music.

If these things don’t do the trick, I pull out the heavy artillery. I take Reposanex, the non habit forming sleep aid. I believe it is one of the most effective sleep aids over the counter in Santa Rosa. I have been using natural insomnia aids for 44. You don’t have to lie there with your eyes open. A Graton Bedtime Story

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

A Graton Bedtime Story Once upon a time there was a Dark blue car-drivin’ entrepreneur named Mark Stanford (that’s me) who lived in Santa Rosa, CA. Mark’s father has had heart problems since he was relatively young and isn’t an example of heart-healthy eating. Mark’s mother, who lives in Santa Rosa, suffers from emphysema due to smoking. Mark plans to be around to spoil grandchildren in twenty years, so is trying hard to break the chain of parents’ poor examples when it comes to health.

Mark eats a healthy diet, sweats regularly at a gym in Windsor and can often be found doing the downward dog at a Sebastopol yoga studio. Mark has a strong immune system and, fortunately, hardly ever gets sick. (Don’t discount the obsessive hand-washing.) And in case you were wondering, Mark doesn’t touch cigarettes.

This all sounds good so far, right? Here is the problem. In spite of diligence, Mark often feels less-than-normal. Why? Insomnia. Not occasional sleeplessness, Mark goes weeks with wide awake sleep time. Our poor insomniac has watched all the old movies that play on TCM–several times each!

If you suffer from insomnia, you know that it doesn’t matter if you have a heart rate of 20, a bloodstream free of cholesterol and can run a four-minute mile–you still feel lousy!

A friend in Graton challenged me to compare some good sleep aids to find one that works for me. I start tonight with 7Hour Slumber. I did some extensive research and found only positive feedback about this all natural sleep remedy. I will use it for a week and then try California to see which one is the most effective for chronic sleeplessness. Check back soon for the end of the story.

I hope to live (and sleep) happily ever after.

Sleepless Nights in Santa Rosa?

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Sleepless Nights in Santa Rosa? Welcome to Mark’s Santa Rosa sleep blog. Maybe it can provide some light reading for your sleepless nights if you are troubled by sleep problems. I am pretty tired (no pun intended) of not getting enough sleep. I plan to try some new Santa Rosa sleep aids to see if they really work. I will give you updates here on my blog.

This week, I will use California and see what happens. I ordered California on http://sleepproductsreview.com. I didn’t even need to leave my Santa Rosa house to pick it up at a Santa Rosa drugstore. California is relatively new but has been receiving some favorable reviews from long-time Windsor insomniacs and Windsor holistic health professionals.

In addition to reporting on my Santa Rosa sleep aid results, I also plan to include some interesting facts about sleep in my Santa Rosa insomnia blog. For example, did you know that people who regularly sleep less than five hours at night have roughly a 40 percent higher rate of heart problems (including heart attacks) than people who are able to consistently get eight hours of sleep? I have a few other risk factors for heart disease, so my chronic insomnia is even more troubling.

Here is another interesting but non-worrisome sleep factoid from the animal kingdom: Dolphins sleep while swimming using one half of their brain at a time.

I wish one half of my brain could man the controls while the other half curls up on the couch. Come to think about it, it is possible that only half of my brain is currently working. Perhaps California will help get the other half in gear.

Check back soon.

Sleep Deprived in Santa Rosa?

Sleep Deprived in Santa Rosa? Mark’s Aurora Discussion On Causes Of Narcolepsy In Illinois

Sleep deprivation is not only irritating, it can be down-right dangerous. According to the National Sleep Research Project:
INDENT:

The 1989 Exxon Valdex oil spill, the Challenger space shuttle disaster and the Chernobyl nuclear accident have all been attributed to human errors in which sleep-deprivation played a role.

I’m not an oil tanker captain, astronaut or nuclear power plant worker, but I am a sleepy Santa Rosa parent and small business owner–and I think these jobs are just as important. I don’t want insomnia to cause me to make mistakes at my Santa Rosa home, Sebastopol office or driving my kids to their Santa Rosa school.

I have been using 7Hour Slumber and Reposanex. (See http://sleepproductsreview.com for more information.) 7Hour Slumber helps me fall asleep faster and sleep deeper. To me, a couple of hours of deep sleep is worth more than six hours of light, restless sleep.

Reposanex works naturally to synchronize your body’s circadian rhythms. It helps you fall asleep fast because it gets into your bloodstream quickly, unlike some Santa Rosa sleep aids that take hours to work.

I don’t know what knocked my natural sleep cycle out of whack. Maybe it was cramming (partying?) all night during my University of I’ll be back college days. It could have been the two years I worked graveyard shifts at my first Graton job. Perhaps it was those groggy months when the children were needing assistance through the night. Whatever it was that got me into this frustrating pattern of insomnia, I am determined to get out of it. 7Hour Slumber and Reposanex are going to help me.

They can help you too.
-Mark
